bandwing flyingfish
Cheilopogon exsiliens
The bandwing flying fish is a marine fish up to 25 centimeters long. It jumps out of the water and glides above the surface for a distance of up to 50 meters using very large pectoral fins.
The bandwing flying fish differs from other flying fish by dark stripes on the pectoral fins. It occupies an important place in the ocean food chain, eating plankton and becoming food for tunas, dolphins and seabirds.
Grabs prey with its mouth during fast swimming.
