Adelophryne baturitensis is a very small frog that lives only in the mountainous humid forests of northeastern Brazil. It has direct development: fully formed tiny froglets emerge from the eggs without a tadpole stage.
Adelophryne baturitensis differs from other frogs by its tiny size and the complete absence of an aquatic larval stage. The species is important for the forest ecosystem because it eats small insects and serves as food for larger animals.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
