Equus kiang
2218
Kiang is a large mammal from the horse family that lives on the high-altitude plateaus of Tibet. It is the largest wild ass, excellently adapted to cold dry climate and thin air.
The kiang differs from other wild asses in its larger body, thick fur, and ability to live at high altitudes. It is important for the nature of Tibet as it spreads plant seeds and serves as food for wolves.
