Chaetodontoplus melanosoma
The Black Velvet Angelfish, or Chaetodontoplus melanosoma, is a marine fish with a tall compressed body that is almost black. It lives on coral reefs of warm seas and feeds on sponges and algae.
Unlike many brightly colored angelfish, this species has an almost completely black velvety body. It is important for the reef because it eats sponges and prevents them from completely covering the corals.
