Oreochromis variabilis is a fish from the cichlid family known as the Victoria tilapia. It lives in Lake Victoria in Africa and feeds on algae and small animals.
Victoria tilapia differs from other cichlids by variable coloration and mouthbrooding. It helps keep water clean by eating algae and serves as food for large fish, but is now rare due to the introduction of Nile perch.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
