The Tokyo salamander is a small amphibian from the cryptobranchid family. It lives only in the central part of Honshu Island in Japan near Tokyo.
The Tokyo salamander differs from other cryptobranchids by its limited range only around Tokyo. It is important for nature as a predator of insects and an indicator of the purity of forest water bodies.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
