swallowtail bass
Anthias woodsi
The swallow antias is a small, brightly colored marine fish with a tall body and a deeply forked tail. It lives in schools over reef slopes in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
The swallow's antas differs from related species by the especially long forked tail in males and preference for depths from 20 to 200 meters. It serves as an important link in the reef's food chain, eating plankton and becoming prey for larger fish.

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
