bay whiff
Citharichthys spilopterus
The bay whiff is a small flounder that lives on the bottom of bays and estuaries. This fish has a flat body and both eyes on the left side of the head.
The bay whiff differs by a large pectoral fin on the blind side of the body. This fish is important for the nature of bays as it eats small animals and itself serves as food for larger fish.
