The lesser spotted eagle is a medium-sized predatory bird from the Accipitridae family. It nests in the forests of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, and migrates to Africa for winter.
The lesser spotted eagle differs from the greater spotted eagle in its smaller body size and lighter spots on the wings. It is important for nature as a regulator of rodent and other small animal populations.
