semirechensk salamander
Ranodon sibiricus
The Semirechye frog-tooth is a rare salamander that lives only in the cold mountain streams of the Tian Shan and Dzungarian Alatau. It has a long body, a wide tail, and smooth skin covered with mucus.
The Semirechye salamander differs from other salamanders by living only in very cold fast mountain streams. It is important to nature as an indicator of clean water and as part of the rare ecosystem of Central Asia.
