Tantilla oolitica is a very small snake up to 35 centimeters in length. It lives only in southern Florida and is distinguished by a dark head with a light stripe resembling a crown.
This snake differs from other Tantilla species by a distinctive light ring on its head and a very limited range in the limestone areas of Florida. It helps maintain balance in nature by eating centipedes.
