Zaedyus pichiy
The pygmy armadillo, or pichi, is the smallest species of armadillo. This mammal is covered with a shell of bony plates and lives in open areas of South America.
Unlike many other armadillos, the pichi tolerates cold weather well and can hibernate. It is important for nature because it eats harmful insects and loosens the soil with its burrows.
