The striped kingfisher is a small bright bird with striped plumage. It lives in the forests of Southeast Asia and hunts insects and small animals from low branches.
The striped kingfisher differs from river kingfishers in that it is almost not associated with water and hunts in dense forests. It helps maintain the balance of insect and small vertebrate populations in tropical forests.
Hunting from ambush.
