taylor's salamander
Ambystoma taylori
Taylor's salamander is a species of amphibian from the ambystomatidae family. It lives only in a high-mountain lake in Mexico, retaining gills and an aquatic lifestyle even in adulthood.
Taylor's salamander differs from related species by permanent neoteny and a very limited range. It is important for studying amphibian development processes and requires strict protection as a critically endangered species.
