The eastern wood-pewee is a small bird 13–15 centimeters long from the tyrant flycatcher family. It lives in deciduous forests of eastern North America and catches insects directly in the air.
The eastern wood-pewee differs from similar flycatchers by its voice and preference for old moist forests. It is beneficial to nature because it eats many harmful insects and serves as an indicator of forest health.
