Kenyan sand boa
Eryx colubrinus
The Kenyan sand boa is a small non-venomous snake from the boa family. It lives in East Africa, spends almost all its time buried in the sand, and hunts from ambush.
The Kenyan sand boa differs from related species by its short tail resembling a head and the habit of completely burrowing into the sand. It regulates the population of small animals in the arid regions of Africa.
