Geography of the pheasant

Here we explain where the pheasant lives and which environmental conditions suit it.

Pheasant: what is it like

The pheasant is found within the Nearctic and Palearctic biogeographical realms, inhabiting Celtic broadleaf forests, broadleaf forests of Western Europe, Baltic mixed forests, and European Atlantic mixed forests.

The common pheasant is a medium-sized bird from the order Galliformes. Males are distinguished by bright plumage with a green head, red skin around the eyes, a white ring on the neck, and a very long tail, while females have modest brown coloration.
The common pheasant differs from other gallinaceous birds by the very long tail of males and a white ring on the neck. It is beneficial for nature because it eats harmful insects, spreads plant seeds, and serves as food for predators and humans.
