Black neon tetra
Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi
The black neon tetra is a small schooling freshwater fish up to four and a half centimeters long. It lives in the rivers of South America and attracts aquarists with its bright black stripe on the body with a red line on top.
The black neon tetra differs from the common neon by having a wide black stripe instead of a blue one. In nature, it serves as food for larger fish and helps maintain the balance of small invertebrates in rivers.
Collects small food particles in the water column and at the surface.
