Fratercula arctica
The Atlantic puffin is a medium-sized seabird with a bright triangular beak. It lives in the cold waters of the North Atlantic, swims and dives excellently for fish, and nests in large colonies on coastal cliffs.
The Atlantic puffin differs from other alcids by its bright large beak and its ability to hold many fish at once. It is important for nature because it transfers nutrients from the sea to the land and serves as an indicator of the health of marine ecosystems.
