Romagnol
Calm, balanced, moderately active. Navigates the terrain well, has a strong homing instinct. Less timid compared to many other carrier breeds, easily gets used to humans.
Romagnol (Romagnolo) — Italian meat breed of domestic pigeons, one of the largest and heaviest in the world. Massive, broad-bodied, squat pigeon with a powerful horizontally set body, broad chest, short thick neck and relatively short legs. Body length 380–460 mm, male weight 900–1250 g (ideal 1000–1100 g), females 800–1050 g. Head large, broad, slightly rounded with a high convex forehead. Beak 22–27 mm, powerful, light pink. Eyes large with dark orange or reddish-brown iris. Neck short, very thick, vertically set. Body cylindrical, chest very broad and rounded, back broad, straight, short. Wings 280–320 mm, tightly pressed. Tail 90–110 mm, broad, slightly raised, 12–14 tail feathers. Tarsus 35–42 mm, legs reddish-pink. Plumage dense, stiff, with metallic sheen on neck and chest. Acceptable colors: solid black with green-violet sheen (main), white, red, yellow, blue-gray, blue, silver. Differs from the basic species by significantly greater mass, shorter and thicker neck, very broad chest, short tarsi and squat posture. Ideal proportions: body length 3.5–4 times the length of the head, chest width close to body length.
