Bufo nelsoni is a small toad from the Bufonidae family. It lives only in the desert springs of the Amargosa River in the state of Nevada.
Bufo nelsoni differs from other toads by its narrow association with warm springs in the desert. The species is very rare and protected. It helps control insect populations and serves as an indicator of the health of a unique aquatic ecosystem.
