Dendrophryniscus berthalutzae is a very small toad from the tropical forests of Brazil. It spends its life among plants and uses bromeliads for the development of offspring.
This species differs from related toads in that its entire development cycle occurs in tiny water bodies inside bromeliads. It is important for the forest because it eats insects and serves as food for snakes and birds.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
