Trachemys terrapen is a medium-sized freshwater turtle from the Caribbean region. It lives in rivers, ponds and swamps of Jamaica, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands.
Unlike closely related species, Trachemys terrapen has no bright red markings behind the eyes. The turtle helps keep water bodies clean by eating remains of plants and animals.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
