Corythoichthys insularis is a small marine fish from the pipefish family. It has a very thin body and a tubular snout with which it catches its prey.
Corythoichthys insularis differs from related species by the pattern on its body and by occurring only near certain islands in the Indian Ocean. It is important for nature because it controls the population of small crustaceans and serves as food for other marine animals.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
