The black lion tamarin is a small monkey with black fur and golden-red hind legs and tail. It lives only in the Atlantic forests in southeastern Brazil and belongs to rare species.
The black lion tamarin differs from other lion tamarins with its almost completely black body color and golden rump. It is important for the forest because it spreads plant seeds and eats harmful insects. The species is threatened due to habitat loss.
