Cerberus schneiderii, or the Southeast Asian bockadam, is an aquatic snake up to 1.2 meters long. It lives in coastal mangrove forests and river mouths of Southeast Asia.
It differs from other water snakes by nostrils on the upper part of the snout, which allow breathing when the body is almost completely submerged in water. This snake is important for nature because it regulates the population of fish and other small animals in mangrove ecosystems.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
