The fan-tailed day gecko is a bright green lizard with a wide flat tail, the edges of which resemble saw teeth. It lives in Madagascar, is active only during the day, and climbs tree trunks and leaves excellently.
This species differs from other diurnal geckos by its very wide and serrated tail, which helps it cling to leaves. Geckos pollinate flowers when drinking nectar and serve as food for snakes and birds, so they are important for Madagascar's forests.
