Rio Negro frog, or chalhuaco, is a small amphibian that lives only in cold mountain water bodies of a small area in southern Argentina.
This frog differs from related species by living in the very cold water of high-mountain lakes in Patagonia. It is important for nature as part of the unique ecosystem of Argentina's mountains and needs protection.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
