abd al kuri sparrow
Passer hemileucus
The Abd-al-Kuri sparrow is a small bird about 13 centimeters long. This species lives only on one small island of Abd al-Kuri in the Indian Ocean and is not found anywhere else.
The Abd-al-Kuri sparrow differs from related sparrow species by the special light head coloration of males and a very limited range. It helps spread plant seeds on the island and serves as food for local predators.
