Proctoporus oreades is a small lizard from the Gymnophthalmidae family. It lives in the high mountains of the Andes in Peru and was previously referred to the genus Euspondylus.
Proctoporus oreades differs from related species by its special scale pattern and adaptation to cool high-mountain climate. It is important for nature as an insect hunter and part of the food chain in mountain ecosystems.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
