sonora chub
Gila ditaenia
The Sonoran chub is a small freshwater fish of the carp family. It lives only in a few rivers and streams in desert areas on the border of the USA and Mexico.
The Sonoran chub differs from related species by a dark stripe on its side and the ability to live in desert rivers with little water. It is important as part of the food chain and as an indicator species for water bodies in arid areas.
Collects food with its mouth from the bottom and among plants.
