Texas-mexican gambusia is a small freshwater fish up to six centimeters long. It lives in springs and rivers on the border of the USA and Mexico and eats mosquito larvae.
The species differs from related guppies by a large dark spot at the base of the dorsal fin and body shape. It is important for nature because it reduces mosquito populations and serves as food for larger fish.
Captures prey with its mouth in mid-water or at the surface.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
