The Florida torpedo is an electric ray with a flat disk-shaped body. It lives on the seabed and uses special organs to generate electric discharges to stun prey and defend against enemies.
The Florida torpedo differs from other rays with its powerful electric organs that allow it to hunt without fast movements. It plays an important role in the marine ecosystem by controlling the population of small bottom-dwelling animals.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
