Gastrotheca antoniiochoai is a marsupial frog from Peru. Females carry eggs in a special pouch on their back, where they develop directly into small froglets without a tadpole stage.
Gastrotheca antoniiochoai differs from other frogs by direct development in the mother's pouch without an aquatic stage. The species is important for nature as part of the biodiversity of the mountain forests of Peru and helps control insect populations.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
