Sicalis uropygialis
Sicalis uropigyalis
The golden-belted sicalis is a small bird 12–14 centimeters long. Males have a bright yellow lower back, olive back, and yellow plumage on the head and chest.
The golden-belted sicalis differs from related species by the very bright yellow belt on the males' lower back. It disperses plant seeds and serves as food for small predators in the mountainous regions of South America.
Collects food on the ground and low plants.
