The southern Karoo lizard, or Karusasaurus polyzonus, is a medium-sized girdle lizard. It lives among rocks in the arid regions of the Karoo in southern Africa.
The southern Karoo lizard differs from related species by a special pattern of dark and light transverse stripes on its body. It is important for nature because it eats plants and serves as prey for snakes and birds.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
