roseate tern
Sterna dougallii
The roseate tern is a medium-sized seabird with long wings and a forked tail. During the breeding season, adult birds develop a pink tint on their breast.
The roseate tern differs from other terns by its very light plumage, pink breast tint, and especially long tail feathers. It is important for nature as a hunter of small fish and as an indicator of the purity of coastal marine waters.
