The Danube loach, or Cobitis elongatoides, is a small freshwater fish with a long body and spines under its eyes. It lives on the bottom of rivers and streams in the Danube basin and feeds on small prey.
Danube goby differs from related species by the special arrangement of dark spots on the body and the size of spines under the eyes. It serves as food for larger fish and helps keep water bodies clean by eating detritus.
