Psammodromus occidentalis is a small lizard from the Lacertidae family. It lives on sandy soils in the western part of the Iberian Peninsula and runs quickly among bushes.
The species is distinguished from related lizards by a special pattern on the back and a love for clean sand. It helps maintain balance in nature by eating insects.
