Honanotherium schlosseri
Honanotherium schlosseri is an extinct relative of giraffes that lived in China about seven million years ago. It had a long neck, four bony outgrowths on the head and the body of a large mammal.
Honanotherium schlosseri differed from modern giraffes with a shorter neck and a special structure of four outgrowths on the head. This species helps scientists understand how the long neck formed in giraffids during evolution.
