The Bornean loach, or Pangio shelfordii, is a small freshwater fish with a long body. It lives on the bottom of rivers and streams of Borneo Island and often hides in the substrate.
The Bornean loach differs from other loach species by its special brown coloration with stripes and its preference for soft substrate. It cleans the river bottoms from remains and serves as food for predatory fish.
Digs in the ground using whiskers and a small mouth.
Locomotion through water employed while searching for or capturing prey.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
