drewes moss frog
Arthroleptella drewesii
Drewes's moss frog is one of the smallest frogs on Earth. It lives only in the mountains of South Africa among moist moss on rocks and develops without a tadpole stage.
Drewes's moss frog is distinguished by direct development without an aquatic stage and a very small body size. It is important for nature as part of the unique ecosystem of the Cape region, where many species live only in mossy mountain areas.
