American Saddlebred
Energetic, friendly, highly intelligent, with a pronounced «horse» character. Very sociable, loves human attention, has natural grace and «show-attitude» — prone to effective self-presentation. Low level of aggression, but can be sensitive and demanding of the quality of the rider's work.
American Saddlebred — tall, elegant, pronounced riding type horse with a pronounced “parade” conformation. One of the tallest and longest light-type breeds. Height at withers 1520–1730 mm (ideally 1570–1670 mm). Weight of stallions 500000–650000 g, mares 450000–570000 g. Format index 104–108 (body length exceeds height at withers). Dry harmonious conformation, very high neck set, aristocratic dry head. Main breed features: long “swan” neck (850–1100 mm, almost vertical set), high-set tail, high limb action (especially hind — hock action), five-gaited. Head medium, dry, profile straight or slightly concave, eyes large dark brown, ears 110–140 mm. Acceptable colors: bay, black, chestnut, gray, palomino, cremello, buckskin, appaloosa, pinto. Differs from the basic domestic horse by high parade neck set, elongated body, high croup and characteristic rack gait.
