Banded damselfish
Abudefduf abdominalis
Striped damselfish, or Abudefduf abdominalis, is a marine fish up to 17 centimeters long with five or six wide black stripes on a light body. It lives in warm waters of the Pacific Ocean near coral reefs and feeds on algae and small animals.
The striped damselfish differs from close species in the number and width of black stripes on the body. It helps maintain balance on the reef by eating excess algae and serves as food for larger fish.
