The Amur sturgeon is a large freshwater fish from the sturgeon family. It lives in the Amur River basin and is distinguished by bony plates on the body and a long snout.
The Amur sturgeon differs from other sturgeons in the shape of its snout and the number of scutes on its body. It cleans the river bottom from remains and serves as an important part of the food chain. Currently this species has greatly declined due to fishing for caviar.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
