Phymaturus verdugo is a lizard from the Liolaemidae family. It lives in high rocky areas of the Andes in Chile and feeds only on plants.
Phymaturus verdugo differs from related species in that it lives at very high altitudes and has completely switched to a plant-based diet. It is important for nature because it participates in the dispersal of plant seeds in harsh mountain conditions.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
