Calm, balanced, moderately active. Gets along well in a flock, non-aggressive toward other pigeons. Retains a pronounced instinct to return to the home loft. Displays the breed-typical proud posture and interest in flight.
Crested Soultz (Soultzer Haube, Huppé de Soultz) — a selective line of ornamental domestic pigeons of medium size, sturdy yet elegant build. Male weight 380–480 g, female weight 340–430 g. Body length 320–380 mm, wingspan 620–720 mm. Compact “cubic” silhouette with a short back, broad rounded chest, relatively short powerful neck. The main distinguishing feature is a large, dense, symmetrical vertical crest in the shape of a regular “rosette” or “cup” (base diameter 45–65 mm), always white, sharply contrasting with the main body color. The crest completely covers the occiput, often with a central “mirror”. The head is rounded, broad in the frontal region. Beak of medium length (18–23 mm). Eyes large with dark-orange to dark-red iris. Plumage dense and glossy. Acceptable body colors: black (with green sheen), red, yellow, blue (with bars), silver, smoky, isabelline — all with a white crest. Differs from the basic Columba livia by its large rosette crest, short back and neck, and compact silhouette.
