Calm, moderately active, gets along well in groups, has a pronounced homing instinct. Less noisy and aggressive than many other pigeon breeds.
Danish Suabian (Dänischer Stieglitz) — a specialized ornamental breed of domestic pigeons of medium size, slender but sturdy build with a characteristic "swallow-like" posture. Weight 260–340 g, body length 310–360 mm, wingspan 580–640 mm. Distinguished by a highly raised head, long narrow body, very long thin gracefully curved neck, strongly elevated narrow tail at an angle of 35–45° to the line of the back. The head is small, rounded, and dry. The beak is thin and straight, 18–22 mm. Wings are long, 190–215 mm, held tightly against the body. Tail 110–135 mm, consisting of 12 rectrices. Legs with tarsus 32–38 mm. Plumage is dense, smooth, with a strong sheen. Acceptable colors: black with green iridescence, red (cherry), yellow, blue with black bars, silver, coffee/brown. Ideal proportions: body length to height in stance ≈ 3:1, tail length 38–40% of total length. Differs from the wild type and other breeds by the absence of ornaments, more elegant "dry" build, and high tail angle.
