Domino Frill
Calm, peaceful, moderately active. Gets along well with other pigeons. Retains a pronounced instinct for incubating and feeding chicks. Less prone to flights than many other pigeon breeds.
Small ornamental breed of domestic pigeons (240–310 g, ideally 260–280 g; body length 190–230 mm; wingspan 480–540 mm). Compact, elegant silhouette with a short, broad-shouldered body sharply tapering toward the tail (“egg-shaped” profile). The main feature is a highly developed dense symmetrical curly cravat (cravat/frill) on the chest 35–55 mm high with dense silky curls forming a rosette. Curliness is also present on the flight feathers of the wings (frill factor). The head is small and rounded (length 38–42 mm), the beak thin 18–22 mm, the neck short and vertical 45–55 mm, the wings short 140–155 mm, the tail short 65–75 mm (12–14 feathers). Plumage is dense and silky. Classic coloration: black anterior part (head, neck, chest up to the cravat, flight feathers, tail) with green metallic sheen + rich reddish-brown (rusty) body, wings and back; clear demarcation. Black-yellow, black-silver, and coffee-domino variants are allowed. Distinguished from the base Columba livia by smaller size, structural curliness on the chest/wings, and a specific domino pattern. Ideal proportions: body length = 7–7.5 times head length.
