Ghent Owl
Calm, phlegmatic, moderately active. Gets along well with other pigeons. Strong instinct for incubation and feeding offspring. Less inclined to flight than many other pigeon breeds.
Ghent Owl (Genter Mövchen, Cravaté Gantois, Cravattato di Gand) — a small decorative breed of the 'owl' group. Compact, short-bodied, squat pigeon with a 'cubic' silhouette, high-set head and very short neck. Weight 240–310 g (ideal 260–280 g), body length 190–230 mm. Distinguished by a large rounded-cubic head (38–42 mm), short thick strongly curved beak (12–15 mm), very short thick neck (35–45 mm) with dense long stiff frill (35–50 mm). Body short wide deep almost square, back short wide, chest wide rounded. Wings short (140–155 mm), tightly pressed. Legs very short (tarsus 22–27 mm), fully feathered ('pug'). Tail short (55–65 mm), raised at an angle of 30–45°. Plumage dense stiff, especially the frill; frill, leg plumage and lower part of chest always pure white. Acceptable colors: black with green sheen, blue with black bars, red, yellow, silver, dun, magpie (magpie). Differs from other owls by shorter squat body, dense rounded frill, short thick beak, low stance and cubic silhouette.
